The woman in the cutscene is Venat. Twelve thousand years ago, the world of Etheryis was a utopia where most people wanted for nothing, and creation magic catered to all their needs. Until it was laid to waste by a disaster called the Final Days. In the beginning of this disaster, Venat, a woman who traveled the world helping anyone in need, met an adventurer from the modern day, who had managed to travel back in time in hopes of finding out the cause of the Final Days, which had started to afflict the world again. The first disaster was only averted by half of mankind sacrificing themselves to create a godlike being, a Primal, known as Zodiark, who managed to restore the physical laws of existence that had started to fail.
In the aftermath, new life was born, new peoples and races, but a portion of the survivors decided that the best option was to sacrifice half the remaining population to Zodiark to have him repair the world, then sacrifice all the new life in an attempt to have Zodiark restore all the sacrifices to life. Venat, with the help of some of the other survivors, stopped it in the only way possible, creating another Primal, known as Hydaelyn, with Venat as its core. She sundered the world into fourteen reflections, with the life force and souls divided among the reflections.
No one but Venat knew of that adventurer from the future. No one knew that the Final Days would come again. And that perfect utopia, with no pain, and no real growth, lacked the strength to stand against it again. When she sundered the world, the reflections would have people with no access to creation magics, mortal lives, struggles and dilemmas the perfect utopia had forgotten. And so, for twelve thousand years, this kind, compassionate woman, who had spent her days helping others, was forced to watch the suffering of fourteen worlds, to endure being barely able to reach out to help them. To endure crippling blow after blow as seven of the worlds did not survive, all in the hope of holding the world and its souls together until she would meet that adventurer again.
