So, while replying to a thread on Reddit, I ended up backtracking to volume 3 mentally. And it occured to me that while it's still my least favourite volume, revelations about Oz, Salem and watts go a long way towards answering some of the complaints I had when the volume first came out. A good demonstration of how later parts of a story can be important to earlier chapters.

There's obvious ones, like the backdoor program, which I used to call IWin.Exe for how flawlessly it worked with no explanation given for several volumes. But with the revelations about Salems personal history with Oz, along with the more modern information Leo would give her, and the sheer amount of information Watts could provide on Ironwood, the fact her agent was so successful in her schemes makes a lot more sense than it used to.

Ah I see yeah Watts really was a revelation on that front.
