So one thing I see popping up recently with the idea that Kerry might find buyers/sponsors for future RWBY volumes is the idea that at the very least Volume 10 might be a thing and that can be used to wrap up the series.
Am I the only one pretty deeply opposed to that idea? Like, I can't say I'm 100% certain, but I feel pretty sure that I'd rather not have any future volumes than to have the CRWBY or someone else try to tie up every loose end in just a single volume. Even if the original crew is involved that feels like a good way to get another gen:LOCK season 2 fiasco.
Granted it's a different thing if we're talking about "volume" as some kind of behemoth mega season that's five times longer than volume 8 (which is currently the longest volume), but if we're talking about a typical or even slightly longer than V8 length volume then I just don't feel like there's any kind of way they can finish the series in a good way with so little screentime.
Even assuming Beyond Volume 9 still gets made and is used as a way to tie up all the loose ends from volume 8 and we can just dive right into the Vacuo plot there's still the fact that we still have 2 more Relics to deal with, each of which should get at least an entire volume dedicated to them in some way (such as how volume 8 is centered around opening the Vault and getting the staff, and is resolved by summoning Ambrosious) instead of having to share a volume, Vacuo itself needs to be explored and the return to Vale (Kingdom) and Beacon should be a proper big thing on it's own.
The Gods are still looming as a overaching presence that probably needs to be confronted in some way, Cinder needs to be dealt with in some way or have character development as does Salem, there's still the possibility of Grimm Summer being a thing and that really shouldn't be glossed over in a speedrun, there's potentially more Salem agents than just the ones we've seen so far judging by the empty chairs during the Evil League of Evil conference in Volume 4, Oscar needs to resolve his identity crisis, Nora needs to find herself and then tie the knot with Ren, Emerald and Mercury don't seem anywhere near done with their character arcs either, Theodore presumably has his own character arc, the Amity Arena CCT is probably going to be important in some way, the refugee problem from Atlas needs to be resolved, etc.
If we take the average length of V6-9 volumes then I just don't see how RWBY could get a satisfactory conclusion without at least three more volumes.
