RWBY & RT General Discussion Thread (V1)

If Ironwood had called for help sooner (especially way sooner, as soon as he suspected Salem's agents had already infiltrated his Kingdom) then Salem's army could have been stuck between a hammer and anvil and destroyed properly.
Or it could have been Atlas being stuck between a hammer and anvil and being destroyed properly given the CCT (you know, the thing that would have needed to call for help in the first place) was still inoperable and what was needed to launch Amity into space still needed to jury rig explosives in order to even make it operable. (not that it would have mattered since when Ruby did it, help barely arrived)

Especially since the soonest he would have found out would be after the massacre at Robyn's party and by then that was game since Watts had access to the heating grid.

There are other ways to get in touch with people other than the CCT. But Ironwood had placed that embargo that said no one gets in or out.
Like, instead of turning to at least Theodore in Vacuo and having an ally Ironwood was so paranoid he closed in country off. Closing your own country off from the rest of the world is a good way to get your own ass kicked when someone does eventually come knocking. For real world proof, look at what happened to Japan when a certain ship rolled up in their waters and said "Open the damn door".
Yes having phones and internet down making communications very diffiult in a world like Remnant, but it is still doable and really could of helped eliviate some things.

Doable, yes, doable in a short manner of time, maybe.

Hope they enjoy snail mail that may get intercepted.

God but imagine if the reason the Blacksmith sent RWBYJ to a particular "when" is because they arrive just in time for Ruby to laser eye Cinder out of nowhere right as Cinder was about to finish a crucial step in Salem's plan to take down Vacuo.

Folks on SB trying to doom and gloom about how things are hopeless because Vale fell.

Ignoring that the good guys actually are banding together (hence Qrow's "you did inspire something" message coinciding with Amity and the multi-kingdom fleets gathering overhead) and that they have at least 2, probably 3 loyal and combat ready Maidens now (Winter & Raven + the Summer Maiden) and can possibly also pull out the Relic of Destruction in a pinch, and have a Silver Eyed Warrior that can oneahot the second strongest bad guy in the right circumstances and a literal God has ensured that RWBYJ are in the right place at the right time.

People are also dismissing the possibility that there's any help that Glynda could actually find and dismiss her efforts as worthless. Meanwhile I can think of at least one noteworthy bit of help that Glynda could go and get that isn't already in Vacuo:

A repaired Colossus showing up at the right time and place could really fuck up Salem's plans and by itself serve as a potent "look to the east" moment for Glynda, to say nothing of other potential reinforcements like reformed White Fang/Menagerie Faunus and possibly even criminal groups with enough sense to see that Salem's victory will literally be the death of them (Miss Malachite seems smart enough to not fall for Salem's bullshit for example).

Ignore the Mantleans crying out "filthy schnees" and yeah, they're united against a common enemy.

Ah yes, another example of you ignoring or forgetting things

Back in Volume 8 there was story going on in the background that evolved over the course of the volume of an old lady complaining about having to shelter up with the faunus in the crater, and over time we see her, her daughter and granddaughter being around the old badger faunus that gave Oscar soup. And in the animatic we see both that family and Old Badger standing amongst other minor background characters from both Mantle and Atlas during Nora's opening narration.

Yes there was one person snapping at Willow, but here are 2 details. 1, we see the Granny and her Daughter try and calm that woman down. And 2, that moment was during Winter's section. i.e. A doom and gloom section. A section showing Winter's depression, shame, and how all she can see are how bad and wrong things are.
Now....what followed Winter's section? Oh right, Qrow's section. A section showing how he is feeling hopeful. How he, of all people, can see the good that is going on around him. We see supplies being handed out. We see Klein giving checkups and Willow helping an injured person. We see the Happy Huntresses playing with kids. We see Qrow have a lucky catch to stop a guy from falling.

Psy, what you, those on SB, and various RWDE's need to accept is that RWBY is "hopepunk". Meaning no matter how bad things might look, you need to hold on to hope, never give up on the good, and KEEP. MOVING. FORWARD.
Yes there will be people that let their personal grudges get the best of them, but by and large even then people can still come together and pull off miracles. Willow is not giving up and trying to do better, so in time that same person who took a verbal shot at her could still come around by the end of things.

Vale didn't even offer much beyond being a place where people exist.

Also amazing insight regarding the Colossus, that'd slap.

Sure thing, here you go!

Huh, could be interesting/plausible.

Also, imagine the surviving Ace Ops trying to explain their late V7 early V8 actions to Cordovin, and her looking increasingly unimpressed.

"He murdered Councilor Sleet while he was in arms reach of you Specialist Bree, and you let him walk away?"

Harriet: He was our commanding officer?
Cordovan: he committed treason!
Elm: Well can you technically commit treason when you are the government?
Cordovan: One man cannot be a government, so yes!
Marrow: (Her vision is bas on movement, stay still)
Cordovan: And don't get me started on the retreat order, where is Winter Schnee, once I'm through with you three she's next!

Cordovan: Winter gets a pass on not stopping Sleets murder because she was in a hospital bed, but she's still got things to answer for!

*One scene with Winter admitting to every single mistake she made in her entire life, plus a lot more she's convinced are her fault at this point, later...*

Cordovan: ... Okay, you need therapy. All of it. We'll sort out the rest once your heads on straight.

Ok OK. I think the Colossus showing up Riders of Rohan style would be fitting because Cordivin is an Atlesian commander who managed to pull her head out of her ass before it was too late, but let's not forget that before that she was a perfect example of the Atlesian system and Atlesian exceptionalism (and bigotry) at its worst.

If not for Ruby buying her time and inspiring her she could have doomed the city she was sworn to protect for extremely petty and pointless reasons, so she's really in no boat to be giving Winter or the Ace Ops any lectures.

Her relationship with them if any should be more of a "so you fucked up too huh?" commiseration and a shared promise of trying to not fuck up again in the future.

Cordo at least managed to get the stick out of her ass before it was to late.
Unlike Harriet and unlike Ironwood.
Heck, when Cordo saw Ruby's Message to the world she was probably not only horrified at what she was hearing about Ironwood, but counting her lucky stars that she actually (eventually) listened to Ruby.
