So, I've been thinking on Penny (Shocking, I know). And the thing that's currently getting to me is how easily her sacrifice could have been avoided. She had the Staff of Creation, above all else her responsibility was to get that safely to Vacuo. 'Priority One', as both Jaune and Weiss pointed out several times over the last two episodes. RWBY covered Pennys transit, while JORNE (Journey?) and the Happy Huntresses coordinated the civilian evacuation. She should not have been fighting Cinder at all, even before remembering she was in a new, unfamiliar body (Which she fell victim to at several points, such as when she tried to use her now non-existant swords). She should have gone through the portal, especially given that following them all the way to Vacuo might well have been a risk Cinder couldn't afford to take. But, as was shown back in the fight with the Ace-ops, Penny is too used to fighting solo and having to do everything herself. There's also an argument to be made about tunnel vision and locking onto the obvious threat. She forgot about keeping the relic safe and focused on going in to protect her friends. Noble, good, but the wrong decision. And that led to Salem getting the Staff.

In the end, the only thing her sacrifice alllowed, as far as she knew, was preventing Cinder from stealing the power of the Winter Maiden. Giving Winter the ability to take down Ironwood was an unintended bonus. And it's left scars that may never be healed, especially on Jaune, Ruby, and Winter.

And the method to restore her to life, that her father revealed to Ruby and Weiss back in V7? It's entirely possible it won't work now. Both in-universe and out, we have to deal with the fact she may be permenantly gone. Because of a wrong decision, and the belief that her life didn't matter...

One detail I really liked in Creation was that we see Robyn salvaging the crossbow bolts she used to "kill" Atlesian Knights with. It fits pretty well with my headcanon that the reason the Happy Huntresses have these weird patchwork/scrapyard looking weapons that are all uniform and that all seem very basic with just blades and crossbows with little to no Dust involved is because their work in Mantle and helping the poor over profiting from serving the rich means that they're very much Huntresses on a budget and can neither afford fancy high tech weapons nor fancy fashionable clothes. So they just scrapped together the best they could get while minimizing costs as much as possible.

Hence all the crossbows since making bolts is pretty cheap and they can mostly be reused, and there is no need for Dust to serve as propulsion. They might all have a few Dust laced bolts in reserve for when they really need it (like Robyn's explosive bolts that took down Tyrian) but otherwise they stay away from Dust to cut down on costs and possibly also to avoid being reliant on the SDC.

I've always held to that theory as well. It fits with the general dynamic of Atlas and Mantle, and of course the fact she's Robin Hood.

question.
do any of you 3 think there is a chance CRWBY would have Ruby die in the final act/battle of the show?

EDIT: So I just saw a thumbnail for a video by a RWBY content/theory creator, You All Write. I've never watched the video, but the title "Jaune's Winning Edge" and the thumbnail having an image of the tree and labeling it "Tumtum Tree" got me to look it up.
What I found.....was Wonderland's Jobberwocky!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jabberwocky

so with that I think the mentioned video is probably getting at that Jaune will obtain Remnants version of the Vorpal Blade that is used to slay the Jabberwock (even though the Vorpal Blade was likely more knife than broadsword), and.....if Sword of Destruction is not Excalibur, then the Vorpal Blade going snickernack could very well be another option.
Now, while I don't mind the idea of our heroes having to deal with a Jabberwocky or even finding a "Vorpal Blade" I really hope we DON'T get Jaune wielding a RELIC as his main weapon :/

Unlikely, the show's hope punk at the end of the day and it'd be a sour note to end things on.

Completely agreed, his whole thing has been steadily abandoning his focus on "Attack, attack, attack" and falling into a cleric role, and after killing Penny, I'm unsure he'd be super thrilled to just pick up another sword either.

RWBY/Justice League #5 is out
It's Barry, the Tortoise Faunus (trait seems to be scales on his elbows, but he mentions a tail).

We see a Cheetah and Peregrine Falcon faunus.

Confirmation that JNPR were brainwashed, and Pyrrha and Jaune were being used in the faunus sector to find people with powerful semblances.

Barry has a friend that helps him determine which people are worth it/safe to talk to, Jesse the Fox faunus.

We meet Barry's Mom, Nora. She gives hugs and makes food. I have no idea what kind of faunus she is. Maybe a slug.

Barry rigged up a system to tap into satellite tv, the neighbor's pricey channels, and half the security cameras in the faunus quarter
