The Republicans will never let it go through, because they know very well that the electoral college is the only thing that let Trump win, and without it, they'll lose the presidency forever.

But it's a good gesture, and in the snowball's chance it does pass, that's a victory for us.

I think any candidate who isn't Bernie is likely a waste of time and energy. A more interesting question is who his VP might be.

E: side note, even if we accept the promise that it's impossible to be a politician in Texas without accepting oil money, that just means Democrats in Texas aren't fit to represent the national party as the candidate

So instead of talking what candidate you support, and letting the thread discuss them on their merits, your going to try to preemptively cast shade on everyone else for presumably disagreeing with your politics?

Since, Biden, Betto, and Pete have all come up without accusations of people being a neoliberal shills, I'm gonna take a stab and guess...

its Shultz isn't it?

Most of the Democratic primary candidates are people I'd be fine with as the nominee. I think Warren is my current favorite, as she's been pretty good about laying out her policy proposals so far. I'd little bit leery of Bernie and Biden as President due to their age, but I still think Biden would be fine and Bernie would be pretty great policy-wise.

Mostly, I'm hoping we don't get a repeat of the vitriol from the 2016 primaries. I think there's enough uncertainty around what's actually effective for the differences in policy to be be bridged by compromise after the election, and I don't think any of the candidates are going into this with cynical or bad faith intentions.

I kinda feel like the sheer number of people running may help Bernie. Almost none of them match him on policy, so they can only really dilute the liberal/centrist votes among themselves.

Gee, where have we seen that happen before?

Blech. He has some appeal I guess, in that he's an old white dude and there's probably some people out there that are disillusioned by Republican policies but not all the other garbage. That's all I can think of, at least.
