Why not a more modern FOSS forum?

Hello, I love that a foss forum software is being used, but aren't there more modern alternatives? I admit I don't really know much about forum software but we can find alternatives here- https://alternativeto.net/software/mybb/?license=opensource

In particular I've seen Discourse be used a lot by foss projects, and it really looks good.

Sorry if I'm intruding here, deciding and changing whole forum software is a lot of work and this post is half assed so I can understand if y'all are irritated. The current one just seems too old imo.

We have been considering updating the software for a little while, so don't feel like you're intruding.

I'm not involved in the tech side of stuff, but I'll let the folks who are know about your suggestion.

Unfortunately, after revisiting the question of software, we decided to go for Xenforo. It's not opensource, but it's more user friendly.
