Why are signature limits so small?

The character limit for signatures is, frankly, absurdly small, and also doesn't seem to be entirely straightforward - it seems to count the BBcode formatting required for the signature, even if you don't write it in BBcode, and the code isn't displayed anyway.

Sadly it appears I also have a small signature limit.

It appears that I have a limit of 0 characters.

I would like to know if this is a bug, if not, I will simply have to get creative.

If I understand correctly, setting the limit to 0 characters is supposed to remove character limits.

Clearly, that's not what happened. I believe a fix is underway?
