So, Transformers Kingdom is coming out at the end of the month. Based off how Earthrise went, I'm expecting the writing to keep improving, but the voice direction to remain incredibly frustrating. Seriously, who made that decision? Voice acting has always been one of RTs strengths, but Transformers has just faceplanted the whole time.
Kingdom is on Netflix. Voice acting is noticeably better this time, although there were a few hiccups. The writing is again an improvement, although there were a few oddities, especially at the end, but overall the merging of Beast Wars into G1 was handled pretty well.
Optimus had pretty good characterization following on from Earthrise, and Megatrons continuing descent into madness was fantastic.
Predacon Megatron is going to be the one a lot of long term fans will have a problem with. The original 90s shows of Beast Wars and Beast Machines made Beast Megs pretty much THE Megatron, one that all other shows and comics have struggled to match. This show goes a very different route with him, instead of trying to replicate the past. It works for the show, but at the same time, it falls short of the Beast Megs that is expected.
My main problem is
The fact the entire Cybertron cast from Earthrise were killed off screen. Sure, Cybertron became a wasteland, but it still feels like a waste.
Not sure exactly how much was them, how much was Polygon Studios (Who did the animation, and the spectacular Transformers Prime back in the day), how much was Netflix and how much was Hasbro, and that uncertainty hurts all the studios, I feel.
... You know, while Ironwood deserves every bit of scorn heaped on him for the treason scene in Gravity, we really don't talk enough about the Ace-Ops utter failure in that moment.

Pretty much, yes, but also for their dereliction of duty. Ironwood stated point blank he intended to abandon a significant percentage, quite possibly the majority of their nations citizens to horrible deaths, and to use martial law to remove the elected government from power. They had a responsibility to stop him then and there. Instead, they tried to arrest RWBY on charges they knew were false. They chose to knowingly and actively support treason against their own government. The events of the start of Volume 8 are their fault as much as Ironwoods.

Oh that is true fact there, no denying that, I viewed that more as a commentary on the issues with hierarchal military structure, of course that doesn't rob them of personal accountability, so yeah, well said, a dictator is only as strong as their supporters.
