Fixing RWBY Volume 7 Recap

[Episode 6: The Next Road Rises]

The episode begins with Team RWBY attempting to find the main armory at Atlas Academy, eventually stumbling upon Penny and her father, Pietro, the overseer of arms and development for Atlas. Pietro grants them access to the armory to repair and upgrade their gear.

The team then sets about their tasks:

  • Ruby and Yang's Work: Ruby takes on the ambitious project of overhauling Yang's Ember Celica, much to Yang's initial dismay as Ruby completely dismantles it.
  • Blake's Dilemma: Blake contemplates using Adam's sword, Wilt, as part of her new weapon, grappling with the emotional weight and past associations it carries. Yang offers support and encourages Blake to reclaim the sword for a positive purpose.
  • Montage of Preparation: A montage shows the team working on their weapons, visiting friends like Roman and Neo, shopping for new outfits, and discussing missions. This section highlights their bonding and individual struggles, particularly Ruby's reluctance to shop for new clothes and Weiss's difficulty finding an outfit that is both stylish and practical.
  • Yang's Haircut: Yang asks Ruby to cut her hair, revealing a personal connection to her mother who used to cut it. This emotional moment helps Yang process past trauma and embrace change.
  • Blake's Breakthrough: Blake continues to struggle with her new weapon design, feeling it still reflects too much of Adam. After a supportive conversation with her teammates, especially Yang, Blake has an epiphany and rediscovers her own vision for the weapon.
  • New Gear Reveal: The video concludes with the reveal of Team RWBY's newly upgraded weapons and outfits, showcasing their readiness for their new roles. Blake's new weapon, Deadly Nightshade, is a significant fusion of her and Adam's previous weapons.
  • Ironwood's Concerns: The episode ends with Ironwood reviewing reports on Team RWBY and others, indicating his pragmatic concerns about their presence in Atlas.

[Episode 7: Day in the Life]
  • The episode opens with Team Ruby returning from a disastrous mission, highlighting Ruby's poor mission-picking skills. In contrast, Team JNPR is introduced doing community service, leading children across a road, which is met with disbelief by Flint and Neon, who argue that Huntsmen should focus on more "important" work.
  • The teams are shown training in Atlas's main training room.
    • Jaune and Blake are sparring to get used to their new equipment.
    • Nora is using her new shock harness to cleave through training dummies.
    • Winter and Weiss are sparring, with Winter focusing on Weiss's endurance and concentration for summoning.
    • Neon and Ruby are racing, with Ciel criticizing Ruby's inconsistent speed.
    • Yang and Neo are in a deadlock, with Yang showcasing her new shields and triple-barreled function. Yang also expresses sympathy for Neo's situation, being watched by Atlas troops.
  • After training, the teams discuss their day. Jaune notices Nora and Ren have left for a meeting. Ruby expresses her frustration about Penny always being too busy to hang out.
  • Ruby confides in Jaune about her "laser eyes" and her fear of using them due to the amnesia effect. Jaune suggests keeping a journal to record her memories, leading to a playful argument about him reading his sisters' journals.
  • The scene shifts to Watts finishing setting up computers in a dark chamber, communicating with Salem through a seer. Salem reminds Watts of Cinder's value and instructs him to observe and instruct her only if needed, wanting to see if Cinder has learned control. Watts expresses his frustration with Cinder. He then walks to another room where Tyrian is creating a crude statue of Salem, and they discuss the next phase of their plan and their task of keeping an eye on Cinder.

[Episode 8: Hill or Highwater]
  • Team RWBY is shown struggling with their missions, leading to frustration and a sense of guilt, especially from Ruby, about not doing enough. They discuss their roles and Ruby expresses concern about Salem's potential plans.
  • After a rough day, Jaune provides takeout, leading to a discussion about Atlas's unique weather patterns. Penny's repeated cancellations of plans with Ruby lead to the discovery that huntsmen can choose missions with specific individuals.
  • The episode introduces Robyn Hill, a confident councilwoman, along with her team: Fiona Thyme, Joanna Greenleaf, and May Marigold. They prepare for a town hall meeting in Mantle.
  • Team RWBY and Team 32 are assigned to protect Robyn Hill. May expresses reservations about the younger huntsmen, leading to a subtle power dynamic and friction, especially when Ruby claims Penny as her partner, much to Ciel’s annoyance. Ruby also learns about May's gender identity.
  • Robyn Hill addresses the public, discussing the trade embargo and recent disappearances. A cloaked Tyrian incites the crowd, spreading suspicion and fear about Atlas's involvement in the disappearances.
  • Watts orchestrates a Grimm attack by remotely opening the city gates. The Grimm charge towards the town hall, causing chaos. The huntsmen, including Ruby, Neon, Flynt, Blake, Yang, Weiss, and Penny, work together to repel the attack. Penny quickly secures the gates based on information from Seiel's analysis.
  • In the aftermath, Ciel scolds Ruby and Penny for their distraction, leading to Penny taking the blame. News reports highlight the growing distrust between Mantle citizens and Atlas. Watts and Tyrian discuss their plan, revealing that the attack was just "step one" to sow discord and prepare for a larger revolution by blaming the military for faulty equipment.
[Episode 9: Under the Green Thumb]
  • The episode opens with a commercial for Snowfield, a major food producer in Atlas, which quickly glitches to show the facility in ruins. Ciel, Penny, Flynt, Ruby, and Weiss are part of the investigation team. They discover that the robotic workforce, called "Green Thumbs," was the perpetrator of the damage, leading to a hypothesis of internal sabotage or an external hack. The damage resulted in a loss of 2.5 million tons of produce, equating to 25% of Atlas's yearly food consumption.
  • The team goes to the SDC corporate headquarters to speak with Jacques Schnee, Weiss's father. Due to a conflict of interest and her potential to "kill him," Weiss is excluded from the meeting, much to her frustration. While the others meet with Jacques, Weiss encounters her brother, Whitley, who informs her that her security clearance has been revoked. Their conversation reveals their strained relationship and Whitley's bitterness towards Weiss, primarily because he views her current predicament as a consequence of her own actions, specifically her going missing for months on end, which led to her security clearance being revoked.
  • Jaune, Nora, and Ren are tasked with delivering food to Roman and Neo, who are being held captive. Jon discovers that Roman and Neo have tricked the surveillance cameras and escaped. The episode concludes with Roman and Neo revealing their escape and discussing their next moves, with Neo showing a surprising level of importance to Roman.

her father, Proandina, the overseer of arms and development for Atlas. Proandina grants them access to the armory to repair and upgrade their gear.
... At this point the changes aren't even making sense, they are just changing things for the sake of changing them it seems.
  • Ruby and Yang's Work: Ruby takes on the ambitious project of overhauling Yang's Ember Celica, much to Yang's initial dismay as Ruby completely dismantles it.
... Yang built her own weapon? She doesn't need Ruby to do this for her.
  • Blake's Dilemma: Blake contemplates using Adam's sword, Wilt, as part of her new weapon, grappling with the emotional weight and past associations it carries. Yang offers support and encourages Blake to reclaim the sword for a positive purpose.
I'm out, done, not wasting more brain space on this, sorry. I salute your efforts in recording this, but I just cannot keep reading.

FRWBY V7 Ep.11 - Noise in the Machine

SDC Cargo Hauler Crash: A Schnee Dust Company (SDC) cargo hauler, the Seventh Breaker, crashes during a raging blizzard. It is revealed that the crash was orchestrated by Cinder and Malachite (formerly known as Aryen, who was disguised as a crew member). Malachite sabotages the ship's controls from within, while Cinder provides the final blow from outside.

Watts's Discovery and Cover-up: Watts discovers seismic activity caused by the crash and uses security footage to identify Cinder and Malachite. Despite recognizing Cinder's recklessness, he deletes the logs to cover up their involvement, lamenting that he always has to clean up others' messes.

Ironwood and Jacques’ Confrontation: Ironwood is confronted by Jacques, who is furious about the crashed SDC ship and the delayed recovery of its cargo. Jacques criticizes Ironwood's military and threatens to withdraw financial support from the academy. Ironwood, suspicious about how quickly scavengers knew about the crash, dismisses Jacques.

Team RWBY's Mission and Interpersonal Dynamics: Team RWBY is sent to secure the crash site. During their flight, a conversation unfolds between Weiss and Yang about what it means to be a good older sibling. Weiss expresses her fear that her younger brother, Whitley, hates her. Blake offers advice, suggesting Weiss apologize to Whitley, emphasizing that family relationships can be difficult.

Confrontation with Happy Huntresses: Team RWBY arrives at the crash site, which is already being pillaged by civilian scavengers and attracting Grimm. They discover the Happy Huntresses—May Marigold, Fiona Thyme, Joanna Greenleaf, and Robyn Hill—are also at the site, looting supplies from the crashed SDC ship. Robyn justifies their actions by arguing that Mantle needs the supplies more than Atlas, which has ample resources. Ruby, conflicted, ultimately allows the Happy Huntresses to leave with the stolen goods after Robyn asserts her authority as the third chair of the Round Table. The episode ends with Team RWBY questioning if they made the right decision.

So they made Cinder dumber for no reason then? Cos Canonically Cinder was able to hide in Atlas without anyone noticing.

It was from Episode 9

Weiss is unable to use her scroll to access the elevator or other rooms in the Schnee Dust Company headquarters. Whitley appears, explaining that her security alert triggered because she was using a revoked card. Weiss scowls, acknowledging that her clearance was revoked.

Whitley then sarcastically blames her for going missing for months, ignoring safety protocols. Weiss, swallowing her pride, apologizes and asks for help getting down to the lobby. Whitley, still baffled by her behavior, agrees, stating they can't have unsanctioned guests wandering the offices.

During the elevator descent, Weiss tries to strike up a conversation, asking how he's been. Whitley's response is cold and sarcastic, expressing that a subsidiary crisis has been "delightful". When Weiss genuinely asks, Whitley questions her sincerity. Weiss then explains her understanding of the stress of being an heir. Whitley dismisses this, stating that unlike her, he actually wanted to be the heir. Their conversation ends when Whitley makes a bitter remark about Weiss being good at leaving, which visibly hurts her. Weiss then tells him to take care of himself as the elevator doors close.

Whitley’s EXACT quotes:
    • Sister, I work here. That is to say, I was working until my security alert triggered because someone was using a revoked card over and over again. You do realize all you succeeded in doing was giving our security staff a meltdown, don't you?"
    • “Oh, there you go. Blaming everyone but yourself. Couldn't possibly be the consequences of going missing for months on end. We should ignore all the safety protocols we have in place. They don't do us any good. Should we make an exception just for you?"
    • "Of course, we can't have unsanctioned guests wandering our offices."
    • "Oh, absolutely wonderful. One of our subsidiaries going into crisis has been a delightful new experience."
    • "Since when do you genuinely care?"
    • "I doubt you could. Unlike you, I actually wanted to be heir."
    • "I'd offer to show you the rest of the way out, but we both know you're quite good at leaving."
The Elevator ride is an Evangelion reference.

With Neo's help.

Just because she's an only child doesn't mean she knows what it's like when someone is pushing people away.

FRWBY V7 Episode 12: Out of Order - Recap
  • The episode opens with a heated argument between General Ironwood and Robyn Hill, a council member, regarding the distribution of supplies. Robyn accuses Ironwood of withholding resources from Mantle, while Ironwood maintains that military movements are confidential and necessary for defense. The other council members, Sleet and Camila, are caught in the middle of the dispute.
  • Ironwood confronts Team RWBY, emphasizing that his orders are absolute. Blake questions the ethics of potentially arresting Robyn, while Yang expresses concerns about public perception. Ironwood reveals that the scarcity of resources is due to the "Harpoon" project and the need to maintain peace amidst an impending panic. Weiss suggests telling Robyn the truth, but Ironwood is hesitant, fearing a politician's manipulation.
  • Cinder and Malachite discuss their successful operation, which has earned them a contact close to Ironwood. Watts unexpectedly appears, asserting his control over the operation and revealing that Salem has assigned him to mentor Cinder due to her past failures. Tyrian also appears, engaging in a playful but intense confrontation with Malachite.
  • Back in their apartment, Team RWBY reflects on their encounter with Ironwood. They discuss the moral dilemma of arresting Robyn and the implications of lying to Ironwood about the "lamp." Blake, deeply troubled, decides to go to the library alone to think, followed by Yang, who is concerned about Blake's withdrawal.
  • Qrow and Clover discuss their semblances and the nature of luck. They then encounter Yang at a bar, who expresses her confusion and frustration with the political situation and her concern about Blake "backsliding" and potentially leaving. Qrow and Clover offer her advice and support, suggesting she and Blake take a break and find something to do together.

Given the way stuff is building up on the official channels that seems likely.

Aaaah I now stuff takes time but I'd love it if they started RWBT Beyond again or maybe did a small manga or comic release?

Loved Ruby's glow up, the new hairstyle is so good, though low key I kinda hope V10 can give us another a bit in line with her DC crossover look.
