Egalitarian Anarchism as a end goal is unattainable, just as no one can win the human race, That said we better ourselves in trying to move toward it

I find Anarchism's goal to be laudable, but as with most modern left leaning ideologies the true debate though is when you have to figure out who the splitters are.

The more time goes on the more I find myself wondering if Anarchism is perhaps our best choice. Capitalism is hilariously unsustainable and is currently helping to kill our planet in the name of next quarter earnings, and communist/Marx-inspired systems that have a central executive officeholder have horrifying tendencies to turn into dictatorships. At the very least, the idea of a central executive office only holds up on paper while in practice it usurps democratic processes as time goes on. The Imperial Presidency is the most visible example of this, as whoever holds that office in the United States has vast powers to make decisions with virtually no oversight.

At the very minimum, I think parliamentary systems are the only way to keep as much power as possible in the hands of the people when dealing with large polities and populations. At the extreme, I find myself considering that Anarchist thoughts are the best way to avoid the atrocities and abuse of power that all powerful countries in the world practice today.

I thought I was, that is where I sit at the moment? Did I do something wrong?

My problem with anarchism is from my interactions with libertarians, so I'm pretty bias against it since the main people I've seen preach for it is those asses. maybe one day I can be more for it, but it'll be awhile.

Okay, so this series is actually a pretty decent primer on how anarchism could work it practice:

[video=youtube]

It's a bit more AnCom than I'd like, but it does cover a lot of the arguments against anarchism brought up in the thread so far, and it cites its sources.

For more reading, there's always the Anarchist FAQ.

tbh, I've always disliked linking to TAFAQ; it's like linking to a dictionary.

That said, I've had people suggest I check out 'Anarchism Works' in the past, which I read a little bit of, and that seemed like it was built explicitly for the purpose of showing anarchist systems that worked in real life. I've also watched a video that talked extensively about how the systems that anarchism would rely on are the systems which society relies upon right now; the primary difference being that anarchism does without the centralized state apparatus that gives leaders the power to exploit society for profit and prestige. Unfortunately, I can't remember what that video was titled.

The one anarchist system I have seen meaningfully IRL has, to my scrutiny, stood by itself once it takes root and grows to a point. That being the farmers in the mountains in haiti who many a time when given the ability to organize and provided with tools and expertise have organized in "syndicates" as one may describe to destribute expertise and goods to grow self sufficiency and capitol to repay debt and fulfil their basic needs attaining a higher living standards for the entire group and their families/villages and eventually fending themselves off from predatory business that sadly runs rampant in haiti. Of course this requires massive efforts from the exodus to get things running and what I know only really applies on small scale good faith agrarian organization.

My experience in this respect has also been more towards advocating the use of propane and electric heating as opposed to charcoal and organizing members of the exodus to fund the efforts needed to facilitate such which eventually requires orginization and expertise which many people have worked to and succeeded in providing so I may be a bit single focused on economics and small scale good faith rural systems but from what I've seen it works.

So I dunno but it seems to work
