The Role of Staff

So a large part in determining how the rules are enforced are the roles of the staff who enforce. So it's important we determine what those roles are.

Ideally, those of us among the staff would like for the Administrators to have no active role in enforcing rules, but instead debating and discussing policy for the membership to vote on or in the case of a moderator acting out of line being the group who facilitates holding them responsible alongside the general membership. At the time this is not feasible, we need more mods.

Moderators attempt to head off troublesome behavior when they can and issue infractions when they must.

Both groups should be subject to popular opinion to a greater or lesser degree.

But here's our opportunity as a community to come up with alternatives or more clearly define these roles or make new ones to fill other roles we need.

Either work
Admins should each have a role, dependent on their abilities, like guys who are good at tech can help with that side. Guys who a good at management should be the rule handling side of things. Guys who are intelligent and good debaters make good fits for appeals, as they can assess people and argue for them if needed.

Mods should have specialisations, as there's nothing saying the division of labour can still apply in anarchism. Guys who know politics can handle that, whereas fanfics can be handled by guys who are good at writing and knowledge in fandoms. Mods at the same time should be given a role in removing insta ban offensives from the community and also spammers all over the forum. Mods should be able to warn other mods and admins. Mods committing insta ban offensives should be removed like anyone else, with the addition that trying to actively damage the forum via mod/admin power abuse (deleting everything) is an insta ban offence.

Positions in the staff should be applied for and decided by votes, any member should be able to put forward a proposal for impeachment to be voted on against members of mods or admins. Mods and admins are equal, you can be voted straight to each other, admins are not "above mods", as they both handle different functions of the site.

etc.
