I've been thinking, and this thought in my head bugs me even though I am pretty sure it won't happen.

BUT, let's say that with this magic island the final trial will be to overcome what it presents to you.
Like, and I know I'm probably going to have trouble properly articulating this thought, what if we have a mix of "meet those who have died" (like Pyrrha) a "Jabberwock problem" and to wrap it up we have a fight. What if this "Jabberwock" has the power to make our characters see things, and the final trial is to fight it. So.....Jaune VS Pyrrha, Ruby VS Summer, Neo VS Torckwick.

Nora's a snail. And she gives great hugs.

Jessie Quick wasn't someone I was expecting to appear. I thought she was too small a name for DC to bother with.

So, I'm thinking that Volume 9 will have two major things. One, a chance for the girls and Jaune to decompress after all the horror and stress they've been through. And second, the chance to stop bouncing from crisis to crisis and actually start planning long term. The end of volume 3 had RNJR set out with that as their goal, investigating Cinders Haven Academy ties. Since V5 though, they've been stuck in dealing with short term problems, mostly because OH MY GOD EVERYTHING IS ON FIRE JAMES PUT THAT BOMB DOWN OKAY CIVILIANS TO EVACUATE WORLD TO WARN WHERE'S THE RELIC WHAT DO YOU MEAN SALEM HAS IT WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WHALE?!

So, if the island is the afterlife of some sort, or connected to it, as is a popular theory, here's two ideas for appearances. Summer and the poor bastard that that in the Hound. Because even if Ruby was right about what happened to Summer, that doesn't mean she's still alive, and Hound-man... well, I think EVERYONE would be happy to learn he's at peace.

so I ended up seeing the Blake VS Mikasa fight (and just the fight) because someone posted it on facebook and I couldn't help myself
I was surprised, but not upset.

I wasn't that surprised. I was actually impressed with how well Mikasa did against Blakes sembleance.

In related news, Criticise Adam, summon someone to try and justify his shitbaggery.

I had someone today up and say Robyn is paranoid and had a (and I quote) "completely unfounded vendetta against Ironwood"

it always surprises me how wilfully blind some people can be.

anyone wanna see the dumb in full?

the original post was in regards to this image

So I responded with a simple "Ironwood"

and then this other person comes in with this (their posts will be italicized)
You mean a character who only got portrayed as a villain because the writers made him oppose the good guys, rather than do anything wrong, saw that plan fail and just made him crazy for the sake of the plot.

and from there here is our back and forth
No I mean Ironwood the guy who from the beginning showed signs of not listening to others if he could help it. The man who had his own forces turned on him at Beacon and began to spiral badly ever since and surrounded him self with yes men and shut down anyone else. The man who even after the Big Bad announced she was on her way had young, brave people still willing to work with him and keep things going all to help the people. The man who turned on said people for 1 breach of trust that didn't even effect him or his city negatively in anyway. The man who shot a kid off a platform for daring to imply he was afraid as he continued is spiral that had lasted volumes and was now reaching a head.
That General James Ironwood.

You mean the "young brave people" who betrayed his trust first, kept vital information from him, and revealed his ace-in-the-hole to the person who was, at the time, Ironwood's most serious problem, a woman that nobody knew anything substantial about, other than, she hates Ironwood.

Robyn harmed no humans, only took what was originally meant for Mantle, and never came across as a real threat to anyone from Team Remnant or Team Atlas. Heck her thefts were the only reason ANYONE from Atlas paid any attention to her.
The name of the game is Unity. Trusting Robyn was a risk, and it was actually paying off. They had her and her team on their side, people were being saved, and attitudes toward Atlas were starting to get better because now Atlas and it's all powerful military were actually getting their hands dirty protecting people.
And it's not like Blake and Yang told her everything. Just enough to try and get her onboard.
As for the initial lie of No Oz and No Questions and being mum on Immortal Witch, think of the context Ruby is working with. They have been burned on trust from other adults. They have first hand and personal experience with how the Truth of Salem effects people. The moment they reach Atlas it has it's full forces hovering around the capital, while it's sister city and it's people are not looking good while messages from a very tired looking Ironwood are playing on EVERY SCREEN. Ironwood does not look to be in a good frame of mind. So even though NO ONE (not even Ruby herself) were of good opinion of lying, they still agreed it was the safer option AT THE TIME. Heck, when things were finally looking up and they had Atlas and Mantle working together they felt it was the right time to tell the truth and they did.
So in short, they lied for a good reason and for the most part it was kind of working. Ironwood was the one to fuck it up by turning on his allies that had done nothing to actually harm his city. Ruby and her friends were even still willing to work with Ironwood and keep things going, and he turned on them and the people he had mere hours ago promised to save.

"Originally meant for Mantle." The only word we have that that's actually true is Robyn, who is not only inherently biased, but also inherently untrustworthy, because, as far as we know, she's the only person with a lie detector semblence, and thus the only person who could get away with lying to somebody's face.
If the name of the game is unity, then surely you should verifying you can actually trust the people you're working with is priority one, if that means feeding them false information first, to gauge their reaction, so be it. What did Blake and Yang do, reveal the essential part of Ironwood's entire plan to Robyn, based on nothing but their ASSUMPTIONS of what she's like, they have no concrete info on her other than she's willing to break the law, which shows no real respect for it, despite, seemingly legitimately, wanting to run for office, which means she does have respect for it, so there's that whole situation that needs resolving, and oh yeah, she seems to have a completely unfounded vendetta against Ironwood.
As for Ruby keeping things secret, in the beginning, I agree, it was a good decision, and showed they learned from their past mistakes, where they went wrong, is not telling Ironwood once they were sure he was on the level, or not caring enough to actually check that he's on the level. I mean, they basically only come clean because the man himself knew they were keeping secrets from him and had to CALL THEM OUT ON IT, by which point, MONTHS had passed since their arrival. That doesn't seem to me like they were verifying his trust before sharing everything, that, to me, seems like they NEVER intended to tell him the truth at all.
"Who did nothing to harm the city." So you don't believe that aiding and abetting in the escape of a known criminal, who is completely unrepentant for her actions, has a vendetta against the military, and is obscenely paranoid, to the point of shooting at people on suspicion that they're out to get her, making her a danger to the public, is harming the city? And all this is in spite of the fact that, as Huntsmen, Blake & Yang are OBLIGATED to bring Robyn in, just due to her thefts, not any of the OTHER stuff that would constitute her arrest being 100% warranted.

"unfounded vendetta against Ironwood" Did you ignore the state of Mantle? Did you ignore the fact that there are holes in Mantle's defensive wall?
Also I doubt there were in Atlas for Months. I doubt more than 2 passed. And as Nora points out the conditions in Mantle are still shit and Ironwood is not doing anything about it.
So Robyn's claim of "these are meant for repairing Mantle's walls" is not unfounded. Not to mention we have known for a few volumes now that there has been an embargo on trade in and out of Atlas for a time well before our heroes arrive. Embargo's hurt, especially poorer communities, which we can clearly see Mantle is as soon as we arrive.
So we have in universe examples of how Ironwood is hurting his own people, who we even hear him describe as "just a few city blocks". He is clearly not thinking about the people.
Meanwhile Robyn is willing to play nice with the Atlas Military as seen by her basically telling May to chill when Marrow is at the rally to keep an eye on things.
As for her "aiding a criminal" given everything she has had to deal with in regards to Atlas for the last number of months on top of the years of history between the cities AND everything that happens between the election to Ruby's panic call she has zero reason to trust Clover at his word. They get a panic call saying that Ironwood is abandoning Mantle, Robyn's home and people who she has worked tirelessly for, and suddenly "Pipsqueak", her friends, and "5 o clock shadow" next to her are wanted criminals. To her, Ironwood is stabbing them in the back. He promised to help Mantle after months of hurting it, and the kids who actually showed her trust and have done nothing but try to help are to be arrested. No one on that ship knows fully what happened, and Clover is just blindly following orders. And lastly it's not like she purposely freed' Tyrian.
And to cap this all off, SHE IS FUCKING ROBIN HOOD!! Of course she is going to be stealing from the rich (Atlas) to give to the poor (Mantle). It was riches stolen through unfair taxes that were taken back for the people. That is THE primary base line of the Robin Hood character many know of. Robyn wants to do things fair and amicably, but if Atlas won't come clean about what the heck is going on while they keep taking from Mantle, then of course she take action. Not to mention, again, we never see her actively harm anyone from Atlas right up until it is made clear Ironwood is going to cast them aside while arresting good people.

And that is where we currently are.
