So growing up I always loved Jackie Chan Adventures, it is still one of my top favorite cartoons from its lore, to its stories and especially its very lovable cast. So, with that in mind I figured I'd open up this thread cos why not and also share some fics that may be of interest.

The below fics are all tied to the 'Project Dark Jade' which was/is a collaborative project started by Eduard-Kassel and and Nocturne no Kitsune based on the premise of Jade Chan, through one means or another, ending up serving as an antagonist or villain. Its a very engaging project that has spawned a lot of great fics and it all started with:

Queen of All Oni by Eduard Kassel reviews
Daolon Wong's summoning spell goes wrong; but rather than awakening an ancient evil, he resurrects a more recent threat. With Queen Jade as their opponent a race for the masks is on. Can the Chans stop Jade's plans and save her from the darkness?

It also inspired fics like:

Demon Sorceress of Fire by Mengskhunter reviews
There was a reason that the demons were banished instead of slain. There is an ancient law of magic, all but unknown to modern mortals, that imparts the very essence of the demon to their killer. When Jade destroyed Shendu she earned his former title. (Seemingly dead but a great premise and has some awesome early chapters)

The list also includes crossovers like:

影 Kage by chaotic9 reviews (Jackie Chan Adventures & W.I.T.C.H )
Sometimes even the heroes greatest victory can be tainted. And that cost Jade her place in her Universe. Now in another Universe watched by a place called Kandrakar and its Guardians, with some of the power she once possessed, Jade will try to find a way home, by any means necessary. But can she prevail in an Universe where Light seems to always beat Darkness?

&

A Shadow of the Titans reviews (Jackie Chan Adventures & Teen Titans)
A botched banishing spell has once again sends Jade hurtling from her world into another. This time though her surroundings aren't the only thing to change as she searches for a way back. Forced into an old form and a new role, Jade will need all her tricks to survive this strange new world. Meanwhile the Teen Titans must prepare to deal with a new kind of villain.

It also has a TV tropes page with its own rec list:

Also a none Project Dark Jade idea cos fairness is squareness:

Despite Shendu's creation of a demon ruled world, the spirit of rebellion has not yet been quashed out of the people, rebellions are frequent and resistance groups are growing organized.

I could see this setting going a few ways, off the top of my head:

Jade Chan, once a servant, now a thief and would be rebel on the run after she 'accidentally' found her way into Shendu's library one too many times and now must face pursuit from dragons talons, Shadowkhan blades and perhaps worst of all, her own uncle, leader of Shendu's 'human' imperial guards.
OR
The self proclaimed 'Captain Black' is among these such leaders and is seeking agents in Shendu's palace that he might find secrets to toppling the tyrant and the Chan family are perfectly placed to do so.

Or maybe a combo?

I did also have some Dark Jade ideas but I'll leave them for now but may share them if anyone is interested.

So back on Dark Jade vibes I felt like referencing an idea I had ages ago.

Namely, playing on the fact that among her siblings https://jackiechanadventures.fandom.com/wiki/Bai_Tza was one of the smarter, more pragmatic and magically skillful one's.

With that in mind after seeing Po Kong defeated she decides it would be worthwhile to spy on the Chans, which proves hard to do at section 13 or at home but easy at school, letting her see Jade's struggle to fit in and be believed, as well as some vexation over Tohru being taught magic while she's being grounded.

Being familiar with legends and divine quests it is easy enough for Bai Tza to cloak herself in an illusion and project herself to Jade as she does Shendu, at school, claiming to either be the spirit of a great Chi Wizard, or a sort of book spirit who was waiting for a student with enough potential (Jade) to awaken it that she might share her creators knowledge. The latter gives her an easier pass at immoral advice, though even in the former case she could justify that with "Times passage changes what is deemed heroic".

Her initial goal was just to get Jade to create a portable mirror with an inverted protection spell on it so she could spy on the Chans without their knowledge but Jade proves engaging and more than that a voracious student, devouring knowledge as Bai Tza learns how best to teach. She may encourage Jade's use of the Shadowkhan or it may not come about with her helping Jade fake a tattoo while deeming the whole ting nonsense but potentially using it to get some kind of seal on Jade a (back door) potentially or something else that maybe makes Jade become more like an Atlantian?

Ultimately Jad also does have an influence on her, enough that while Bai Tza is by no means moral, if freed she'd be more of a genre savvy evil overlord who read the book over destruction for destructions sake, plus her agony over her kingdoms destruction may resonate with Jade somewhat and make her more sympathetic even after the truth comes out. In many respects I am reminded of a scene from 'Vegeta-sei Ascendent' where Piccolo reveals he still intends to conquer the world, but then looked to Gohan and notes that his reasons have changed, but not the plan, describing Gohan as his heir to whom he will gift the world. Bai Tza would probably not get 'that' invested, but there'd definitely be a real 'We can rule together, I will take the world not just for me but both of us' kind of vibe to her actions, as Jade is her student, her potential successor if she's ever truly destroyed and above all, her first friend in thusands of years.

Obviously getting Jade on board is harder but not impossible, especially given her age, the heady effects of magic how shitty some world governments are "We would hardly be worse." but I'd be interested to see if someone could suggest some unexpected twists and turns.

I've read a few Project Dark Jade fics, though that was a while ago. I've occasionally been tempted to write a fic like those, but I've never had a solid idea that I've felt confident in and I already have too much on my plate as a writer.

Honestly that's a mood, best of luck in that regard for the future whatever happens.
